Discover how to move gracefully in a fun online beginner ballet class, full of great tips, beautiful music, and expressive movement.

Your beginner ballet class will include a series of simple barre exercises as well as some more center work – exercises away from the barre – that will focus on fluid movement, with some gentle stretching throughout.

You will receive lots of encouragement and support from your teacher, who will help guide you through each movement with the opportunity to ask any questions, should you need.

Following your online class, you should feel invigorated, inspired, taller, stronger, and certainly excited to put all the great tips you’ve picked up towards your next ballet class! 

Your teacher is City Adult Ballet principal, Jane Casson. Jane is very passionate about sharing her insights that she has learned as a professional dancer with her beginner dancers and loves to support them going forward in their dance journey.

WHAT SHOULD I DO BEFORE MY CLASS?

Following your booking, you will receive an email with a link to access your live online class. Our online ballet classes are all taught using the Zoom application.

You can download and update Zoom for free.

Before your ballet class, have a chair, table, or something sturdy (go on, get creative!) to hold on to for your ballet barre work.

If your barre is portable, please have this set up on the left side of your body as you will start at the barre using the right side of your body.

Ideally, have your camera set up so that it is facing you with as much of your body shown. This will allow Jane to support you throughout your class, offering helpful cues to help connect your mind and body and also cheer you on with encouragement!

We suggest you wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing in your class and have your hair lifted up and off your face, so you can stretch and bend like a pro!
For footwear, you can wear ballet flats or cotton socks.

For center practice, – dancing without a ballet barre – you will require a small amount of clear space, enough to move a few paces forward, back, and either side of you.
In each class, you will learn exercises that have been tailored for smaller spaces.

Other than a water bottle at the ready and a sturdy barre, you are now good to go!

STUDIO CLASSES:

Discover the magic of ballet with classical ballet classes, exclusive to adults who are passionate about dance and are looking for exceptional teachers.

City Adult Ballet open classes allow for flow and freedom of movement with an emphasis on clean technique with postural alignment adjustments, and insights into using your artistry.

Each class will incorporate gentle stretching throughout to improve your flexibility, posture, and strength as well as some expressive exercises in the center. Your teacher will allow for modifications to ensure each class is catered to your level.

These classes are suited to dancers of all levels.
