Kyle Davey brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our esteemed ballet school. His journey in dance began at the Dubbo Ballet Studio, where his passion and talent for ballet were first nurtured. Recognizing his potential, Kyle advanced his training at the Queensland Dance School of Excellence, earning the prestigious opportunity to perform with the Queensland Ballet.
A significant milestone in Kyle’s career was winning the male scholarship at the Sydney Eisteddfod McDonald’s Ballet Scholarship. This achievement propelled him to Melbourne, where he honed his skills at The Australian Ballet School (ABS). During his time at ABS, Kyle received the Graeme Murphy Award for Excellence in Contemporary Dance, showcasing his versatility and exceptional talent. He also performed with The Australian Ballet’s Dancers Company Tour and The Australian Ballet, solidifying his reputation as a distinguished dancer.
Kyle’s professional journey took him to England, where he joined New English Contemporary Ballet. His time in Europe further expanded his repertoire and experience, as he danced with Tivoli Ballet in Copenhagen, Cork City Ballet in Ireland, and Ballet Russes in Wales. Kyle’s versatility also saw him feature in various film, TV, and media projects, including the short film “Angel” by singer Jerry Burns.
In 2008 and 2009, Kyle was a dancer with DanceLines, directed by Wayne McGregor at the Royal Opera House. His international journey continued as he moved to Canada and joined the Atlantic Ballet Theatre of Canada. As a soloist, he created roles for many new ballets in the company’s repertoire, which toured nationally and internationally. He was also given the unique opportunity to choreograph a pas de deux for the company’s Velvet Gala, highlighting his creative genius.
Kyle’s teaching career is as impressive as his dancing. He has taught classical ballet and contemporary dance in schools around the globe and holds a Graduate Diploma of Elite Dance Instruction and a Certificate 4 in Training and Assessment. He is a regular guest teacher for City Adult Ballet, the Australian Ballet School, and the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in classical dance.
Kyle Davey’s extensive background as a performer and educator makes him an invaluable asset to our adult ballet school. His commitment to excellence and his passion for dance inspire and elevate our students, fostering a deep appreciation for the art of ballet.
We are honored to have Kyle as part of our teaching faculty, guiding our adult dancers with his expertise and dedication!
