Born in Sydney and raised on the iconic Bondi Beach, Jill Ogai’s journey into ballet began at an early age. Inspired by a video of Swan Lake, four-year-old Jill and her twin brother surprised their parents with a request to start ballet classes.
At the age of 14, Jill moved to Melbourne to pursue her passion for ballet at The Australian Ballet School. Her dedication and talent quickly became evident, and she toured with The Dancers Company in 2010 and 2011. In 2012, Jill received a contract to join The Australian Ballet, marking the beginning of a stellar career.
Jill’s exceptional skill and artistry were recognized when she was promoted to soloist in 2018. The following year, she was honored with The Telstra Dancer of the Year Award, solidifying her reputation as a leading dancer in the Australian ballet scene.
In December 2023, Jill reached the pinnacle of her career by being promoted to Principal Artist of The Australian Ballet. Known for her strength and versatility, she has captivated audiences with her performances in both classical and contemporary works.
