Guest Teacher

Brisbane-born Daniel, strapped on his first pair of dancing shoes at the age of six and 15 years later Daniel achieved his dream of becoming a professional dancer with The Australian Ballet.

With his beautiful technique, strong characterisation and sparkling personality on stage, Daniel rose through the ranks of the company quickly and was promoted to principal artist in 2010 – alongside his wife, former ballerina, Lana Jones, also a guest teacher of City Adult Ballet.

During his time with the company Daniel performed many of the principal roles in the company’s repertoire and in 2008 was the recipient of ‘The Telstra Ballet Dancer of The Year Award’, Australia’s most prestigious dance award.

In 2011, Daniel was awarded an Australian Dance Award for ‘Outstanding Performance By A Male Dancer’ as well as a Greenroom Award in 2014 for ‘Best Male Dancer’ and received 2 nominations for a Helpmann Award, in recognition of his astounding performances on stage.

As a guest artist he has appeared with Houston Ballet, Singapore Dance Theatre, Queensland Ballet, West Australian Ballet, New Zealand Ballet and English National Ballet.

Daniel left The Australian Ballet in 2016 to pursue new and exciting ventures including acting, teaching dance and to prepare for the arrival of his son.

Daniel is very passionate about sharing his love of dance, particularly with with adult dancers and City Adult Ballet are lucky to have him teaching our dancers!
